Configuring Time Meter for teamwork

General Information

Time Meter allows its users to work as a team by using MS Exchange public folders. This feature makes it possible to:

  • Use shared directories;
  • Generate reports on all users;
  • Restrict access to certain program folders.

To configure MS Exchange public folders, you should do the following:

  1. Create the Time Meter folder in the hierarchy of MS Exchange public folders. To be able to go through further steps, you must have the owner right for this Time Meter folder.
  2. Select the local folder Time Meter/1. Time Entries. Right-click it and select Copy "1. Time Entries" from the context menu.

  3. Specify the Time Meter folder in in the hierarchy of MS Exchange public folders and click the OK button.

  4. Repeat steps 2 and 3 for the Expenses folder.
  5. Configure the view of Time Meter folders using the menu View/Arrange by/Current View/…
    Time Entries - By Project :: anytime;
    Expenses- By Project :: anytime;
    Projects - Projects; …
  6. Select the Time Meter/Options menu. Switch to the Folder Locations tab.

  7. Select the Time Entries folder. Click the Modify button. Specify the new location of the folder. Repeat this step for each Time Meter folder.

  8. Close the local Time Meter folder. Select the Time Meter folder, right-click it and select Close "Time Meter" from the context menu.
  9. Repeat steps 6-8 on each computer.

Setting access permissions for Time Meter folders

To set the permissions, you should do the following:

  1. Specify employee's access rights to Time Meter folders.

  2. Set the necessary access permissions in MS Exchange folders.

    1. Select the Time Entries folder in the hierarchy of MS Exchange public folders.
    2. Right-click it and select Properties in the context menu.

    3. Select the Permissions tab.

    4. Click the Add button and set permission levels according to the tables Access rights to Time Meter folders and Correspondence between access rights and permission levels in MS Exchange.
    5. Set the permission level to None for Default and Anonymous.

    6. Click the OK button.
    7. Repeat steps a - f for other Time Meter folders.
